Newsletter Term 6 -  21st  July 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we move towards the close of another school year, I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to you for your continued support. We have made great progress again, and it has been wonderful to receive so many positive comments from parents, carers and the local and wider community, which reflect the confidence in our school.

Your partnership with our staff has been invaluable in fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment where our children can thrive both academically and personally.

Our dedicated teachers and staff members' commitment to professional development and their passion for teaching and supporting our children has been instrumental in ensuring that every child receives the best possible education and support.

The year has been filled with many wonderful events and trips which have been both educational and fun.  Our VE day celebrations promoted a sense of community and the understanding that we all valued.  The children enjoyed their fish and chips, flag waving and dressing for the occasion.  The school fair was a great success, and again you showed your support by helping us raise money towards many of the exciting things our PTA then gave us, including a school panto.  The school received a grant from the Royal Horticultural Society which has been used to create a new pond area for pond dipping, bird, squirrel and hedgehog boxes.  These are but just a few of the events and projects that have happened.

Looking ahead, we are excited about the opportunities and challenges that the new academic year will bring, including our first year 5 class. We are committed to continuous improvement and are already planning several new initiatives aimed at further enhancing our curriculum and environment.  From September, all classes will be taking part in Commando Joe’s activities, a team working across the whole school to develop resilience, problem-solving skills and team work.

The school term and academic year finish on Wednesday 23rd July at 1pm. The children will have lunch before our staff team wishes them all the best for a safe summer break. As we enter the summer break, I encourage you to spend quality time with your children, enjoying the well-deserved rest and relaxation. It is also an excellent time to encourage reading and fun activities that can keep young minds engaged and curious.

As a staff team, we are hugely proud of the children, who are a real credit to our school and to you as parents and carers.

Once again, thank you for your unwavering support and I wish you all a safe, happy, and restful summer holiday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the new academic year on Tuesday 2nd September 2025 at 8.30am with renewed energy and enthusiasm.

Best wishes,

Mrs Allnutt

Headteacher

On Wednesday, we will say goodbye and good luck to Mrs Wilder and Miss Jarvis as they move on to new professional adventures, and for Mrs Wilder, a new home in the countryside.

We would like to thank them both for all of their hard work, and wish them lots of luck.

Summer Fair

Thank you to our amazing PTA who held another enjoyable summer fair.

The PTA raised £450.00 from the fair, which will go towards more events for the children.

Thank you ladies for your commitment and hard work to the school!

Achievements outside of school

As you will all know, we look forward to hearing about the children's achievements outside of school, and to celebrate them in our Friday assembly.

This term we have celebrated the following:

  • 1 football player of the year award
  • 1 go-karting medal
  • 1 dance class support award
  • 1 football tournament medal
  • 1 gymnastics level 1 award
  • 1 Library Reading Challenge medal

Well done to all the children, and we look forward to hearing about these in the next school year.

Y3 and Y4 Reading Buddies

Reading buddies is a scheme in our school in which our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils are allocated to a Year 1 or Year 2 class to model and practice reading together. The children volunteered for this role in September, and have been committed to going into classes daily over the whole year.

This year our team have been amazing. They have modelled good reading and promoted an enjoyment of reading. Our buddies have spent time with their reading partners listening to them read, supporting them when they find some words difficult, talking about the books that they have read and asking them questions. The children in Y1 and Y2 have loved sharing books with their older friends, continuing the chat about books and reading into lunchtime and playtimes too.

We are really proud of our buddies for giving up their time to do this, and we look forward to running the scheme again next year.
