Newsletter - Term 5 - 24th  May 2024

Dear Parents/Carers,

This has been another incredibly exciting term. The trim trail is now well and truly in use, and we are so pleased to see everyone building up their skill levels and being active.

Our Y3, Y2 & Y1 classes have all been out of school this term on their class trips. We were very proud to hear back from Kent Life and Wingham that your children were exceptionally behaved. We hope that they all enjoyed their visits.

We were also lucky enough to send 12 children horse riding, thanks to the charity MedwayPlus. Mrs Williams and the Robins all reported that it was a wonderful experience.

We were also offered a special circus skills session for Y1which the children thoroughly enjoyed. We are looking forward to being supported with other activities by the charity so watch this space for future events!

Our annual celebration of Elmer Day was as  colourful as ever, with special dance and story workshops for reception to Y3.

As we move into the final term, we have Sports Day to look forward to our Summer Fair, and of course glorious weather!

Phonics Screening

All Year 1 pupils will be completing the Phonics Screening, and some pupils in Year 2 (parents have been notified separately) will be re-taking the check. We will be able to administer the check during the week of the 10th to 14th June 2024. If a child is absent during that week, the school can administer the check up until Friday 21st June 2024.

As at all times, attendance throughout the year is VITAL. Particularly during this period in June, we ask that children are not taken out of school. Children who are absent from school for the whole 2-week period will have to wait to take the screening test in Year 2 instead.

Reminders

  • All children must bring a water bottle to school every day. It should only contain water.
  • As the weather is warming up, please ensure your child has sun cream applied before they come to school.
  • We encourage hats to be worn in the summer months.
  • Please ensure all school items are labelled with your child's name.

Reading Top Tip

Audiobooks can be a great way to engage children with stories.

Wall of Fame

We always like to hear about the achievements the children make outside of school, and we celebrate them in our Friday assembly.

This term there has been:

  • 2 dance academy performers
  • 1 gymnastic squad competition winner
  • 1 horse riding award
  • 1 cheer squad medal
  • 1 fitness and sports club award
  • 1 ballet festival medal winner

Well done to all.
