Newsletter Term 5 - 23rd May 2025

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are very proud to announce that Greenvale is being considered for taking part in creating some promotional videos for the Living Streets Walk to School scheme. We are being considered as an active school, with high levels of achievement and engagement. The footage would be used inspire more schools to join the scheme and as promotional materials. We will of course keep you updated next term. We are delighted that our efforts have been recognised in this way.

I would also like to take this opportunity to give an enormous THANK YOU to those classes who have been out of school this term for school visits. Year 3 took part in a free  Science STEM workshop at Capstone Park offered to the school by the charity MedwayPlus. They also had their Stone Age workshops experience at Kent Life. Year 1 have been to Wingham to see the animals they had been learning about at the beginning of the year. Year 4 went out to WildWood to find the otter they adopted for Christmas, and to experience life in Viking times!

The feedback we have had from all of the visits has been impeccable. Our children represent our school wonderfully, and we have had nothing but glowing praise from staff.

Thank you all for your continuing support, have a lovely break, and we will see you back on Monday 2nd of June for term 6.

Kind regards

Mrs Allnutt

Headteacher

HOME LEARNING

At Greenvale Primary School we believe homework should be an integral part of the learning process to promote independent learning, and will see ‘homework’ as learning at home.

We are grateful to our volunteer librarian who has enabled the classes to regularly return and exchange a reading for pleasure book to share at home.

We are pleased to see so many comments in reading records, acknowledging the home reading that is happening, and we know that the children LOVE to fill up their jars and pots in class with their ‘5 reads’ tickets!

We have very much enjoyed sharing the success children from Y1 and upwards have had with Numbots and Times Tables Rock Stars online.

We value your part in supporting the school’s programme of learning at home, by encouraging your children to learn at home to the best of their potential, be that with spelling practice, reading or precious ‘tech’ time!

We do appreciate that there may be times when data/online access issues may make it difficult to complete home learning tasks, or to submit by email.

Please remember that if you have any difficulties with, or questions about, any of the homework please come in and ask us about it. We will be very happy to help.
