Newsletter Term 6 - 5th June 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back! We hope you all had a wonderful break and are feeling refreshed and ready for an exciting last term ahead.

This final term of the academic year is always a busy and enjoyable one, and we have lots to look forward to across the school.

Firstly, there will be a big reveal as to what the new green addition is to the main playground...watch this space!

And not forgetting, our children will be taking part in a range of engaging learning experiences, including:

Class Trips – We’re excited for Years 1, 2 & 4 to be heading out on their class trips, and for Year 4&5 who have been invited to visit the Glass Box Theatre at MidKent College.

Sports Days – A highlight of the school calendar! We look forward to seeing pupils demonstrate their teamwork, determination and sportsmanship. Dates and arrangements will be communicated shortly.

Transition Days  and arrangements – As we begin preparing for the next academic year, children will have opportunities to meet their new teachers and become familiar with their new classrooms. This helps ensure a smooth and positive transition for all. This will take place at the beginning of July.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support—it makes a real difference. Let’s make this summer term one to remember!

Warm regards

Mrs Powlesland

Acting Headteacher

Weather & clothing for the Summer Term

As we move into the warmer weather, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for school:

  • Shoulders must be covered at all times, including both uniform and PE kit. If your child arrives in unsuitable clothing, we will ask that a suitable alternative is provided.

  • Footwear:
Children must wear school shoes (no Crocs or open-toed shoes). We strongly recommend closed-toe shoes for safety, and socks must always be worn.
Please note: children wearing Crocs or open-toe footwear will have restricted access to certain play equipment for safety reasons.

  • Sun protection:
We recommend children bring a bucket hat, as caps do not adequately protect the ears and neck.
Children without appropriate sun hats may have their play limited to shaded areas.

  • Suncream:
Please apply suncream before school in line with our policy. If suncream is brought in for reapplication, it will be stored safely in the classroom.

  • Coats:                                                                                                                  Coats are still required on these changeable weather days.

Thank you for your support in helping us keep all children safe, comfortable, and ready to learn during the summer term.

 Staff Leaving

Today we have said goodbye to Miss Saunders, from the school office.

Miss Saunders has completed two separate working careers at Greenvale Primary School but this time she is definitely moving onto pastures new.

Miss Saunders will be missed, but we are wishing her lots of luck in her new role.

From Monday 8th June, we have a new member joining the office team, Mrs Shepherd. Please give her a warm welcome as she settles in.
