Newsletter - Term 1 - 16th September 2022

Dear Parent/Carers,

On behalf of all the staff, a warm welcome back to school for our children, particularly our new children starting school in Reception and Nursery.

The children have settled really well and are already enjoying their learning activities in class.

Reception children will be staying for lunch next week, so please look at the menu to ensure your child will like their dinner. Pick up time for Reception will be 1:00pm. Nursery children will be staying all morning next week, pick up time will be 11:40am.

Please remember to complete any outstanding paper work for school that you have and bring into the office to ensure we have all the up-to-date information about your child.

Please also remember that school will be closed this Monday (19th September), as it is now a Bank Holiday for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

Finally, our newsletter contains a lot of important information this week, so please read through carefully.

We will regularly publish a list of amazing awards in our newsletter.

So far, during the holidays we have had:

Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022)

From all of us at Greenvale Primary, we share our deepest condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We have been remembering the life of our longest reigning monarch. We will continue to provide support for our children, staff and families.

hall display

Please take a look in our photograph album.  As a mark of respect, we have left our jubilee display up in the hall, as it helps us to talk about her life and her wonderful work as we take time to remember her.

PE

We are excited to get our PE lessons started again!

Year 1 - Mondays

Year 2 - Wednesdays

Children should wear their PE kit to school for the day -

PE kit should be:

Black or blue shorts, White t-shirt, Plimsolls or trainers

Long hair must be tied back.

Jewellery in School

Can we please remind you that no jewellery (earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets) are allowed in school for PE or physical climbing activities.

If earrings are to be worn for school they must be small stud earrings.

For PE activities in particular, all earrings must be removed. For Health and Safety reasons, children cannot take part in PE if they are wearing earrings.

Again, as part of our Health and Safety audit, children will not be permitted to use the climbing frame if they are wearing earrings or any other items of jewellery.

National Online Safety

We have signed up to the National Online Safety Programme. We will be rolling this useful tool out to you all in the near future to help you keep up with all forms of online safety for your child(ren).

Keep an eye out as details from the school will be with you soon.

Mobile Phones on School site

You will also have seen new signs at the entrances, and in the playground regarding not using your mobiles phone on the school site.

We do ask that you respect our request. This is to ensure that we keep everyone, adults and children, safe and everyone's privacy respected.

School Car Park

Polite reminder that the school car park is not for use by parents at any time of the day unless prior permission has been given.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Reading Records

Thank you for adding your notes, dates and comments to your child's reading records. Reading at home with your child regularly is a vital part of your child's reading development and progress, alongside the teaching of reading that takes place in school.

Reading at home at least 3 times a week is recommended. We make note of every time a child has read 5 times at home and use this as part of our rewards system.

ANY reading you take part in with your child at home should be recorded - bedtime stories, your child reading their book, or any kind of reading activity, long or short.
