Newsletter - Term 6 - 20th July 2023

Dear Parents,

Working together and communicating effectively

I am blessed at Greenvale to be supported by an amazing staffing body, and we have the privilege of working with some of the most amazing children.

Our staff care immensely about all of your children, they do a difficult job in challenging times, and I am blown away by their resilience and dedication. Staff do not just teach the children but also support, listen to, care for and encourage them.  Unfortunately, the pressures on schools and staff are ever growing.  I have had to inform staff that as of September, they will be required to teach more hours in a week than before, and this is against a backdrop of national teacher recruitment and retention crisis.  Over 40,000 teachers resigned from state schools last year and a further 4000 plan to retire at the end of the year.

Many of the factors impacting the schools nationally are due to budget constraints and are a major reason why teaching unions have been undertaking industrial action. Greenvale has certainly been impacted by this, and we have had to tighten our belts in many areas. Your donations towards trips and events at Greenvale has have been greatly appreciated, particularly as we are all being affected by price and rent increases.

We are fortunate that most families are incredibly supportive of the school.  Every week, we receive positive feedback and comments from our parents.  Our staff love these comments and I would encourage parents and carers to send in as many as you can.

I ask you to trust us, as our staff do their very best every day and always act in the best interest of your children.  Staff are always happy to communicate with parents, and we aim to get back to you as soon as possible.  Please be assured that we take all concerns raised seriously. If you can reinforce the school rules at home and ensure your children know the importance of being respectful, responsible, resilient and reflective, this ensures that together we are united as a team.

We know that by working with our community, we can meet these challenges head on and overcome them together.  Remember, that Greenvale can help you and your family in many ways, including food vouchers and uniform.  So please, just pop in and ask. Everything is treated confidentially.

Finally, working effectively in partnership with you is crucial in providing your children with the best possible chance of success and to keep our school community safe.  Thank you for your cooperation and support.

I hope you have a fabulous summer holiday.

Mrs Allnutt

Headteacher
