Newsletter issue number 7 - Term 3. 7th January 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful, restful and healthy Christmas. Thank you all for your support last term as it was difficult for all of us due to sickness.

Year 1 & 2 have Road Safety lessons next week and will be learning how to cross the road safely.

We will also be starting to vote for our School Council members. This is done through each class voting for whom they think will be best to represent their class views at meetings.

This term we are hoping to have our Christmas/Winter play for our Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children. We are planning to have the performance towards the end of term. This, of course, will be subject to COVID outbreaks and any changes to Government legislation that we have to take into account. We will keep you informed of dates as soon as we have them booked in.

The children will also have a theatre company coming to the school on the 25th January, so please look out for letters about this. The pantomime performance we have booked for them will be 'Snow White'

We will of course keep you up to date with any changes that may occur this term through Covid, and as a school we will endeavour to keep things as 'normal' as possible and continue to make learning fun and enjoyable for all our children.

Keep safe and well.

Head teacher

Mrs Allnutt

Covid-19 rules as of 11th January 2022

The main symptoms to be aware of are:

  • Temperature
  • A new, continuous cough
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

If you have any one of these symptoms you must isolate immediately and arrange to have a PCR test. Please DO NOT send your child into school if they have any of the above symptoms.

If you take a Lateral Flow Test BUT you had no symptoms, and it shows as a positive, you must register the result and isolate with immediate effect. In this scenario a PCR test is NOT required as confirmation. The registered result of the LFT test will need to be emailed to school as proof of the test outcome. Office@greenvale.medway.sch.uk

You are now required to isolate initially for 7 days. On day 6 you can take a LFT, if this is a negative you can then take another LFT test at least 24 hours after the day 6 test, if this is then negative, you can return to school/work onthe day 8. But only after you have two negative tests that are taken 24 hours apart. If you still test as positive you must continue to isolate and continue to do LFT test until you have 2 negative tests or you reach day 10.

To find your local PCR testing centre, please refer to WWW.GOV.UK

At this time, the Government guidelines do not state that the whole house needs to isolate, only the individual that has tested positive or is displaying any one of the above symptoms.

If you are unsure of your symptoms or the current guidelines please call the NHS Covid telephone no 119.

Thank you for your cooperation.
