Newsletter issue number 8 - Term 3. 11th February 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly, thank you for continuing to support the school by helping your children with their learning at home. Reading is especially important in order for the children to access any new learning. We continue to celebrate the children's successes within the classroom and assemblies which is wonderful to see. Please remember if you have any questions about reading to ask your child's teacher.

After two years of not being able to have the theatre group pantomime visit the school, it was amazing to see the children's faces as they lit up with enjoyment at watching Snow White in the hall at the end of January.

We have also had a Road Safety visit from Medway Council, and the whole school took part in learning how to be safe crossing the road, again something we have not been able to offer for a long time. You should be very proud of all of them as they were a real credit to the school with their behaviour.

Year 2 have been enjoying their dance lessons from the Right Step Dance Company for this terms PE lessons. If you ask them to perform to 'Pompeii' by Bastille, you will be treated to a performance to remember. They are thoroughly enjoying learning new moves!

After school clubs are up and running now and will continue next term with new clubs to try. After talking to the children about the clubs, they have told me how much fun they are having.

I want to wish you all a restful and enjoyable half-term. I look forward to seeing you all back on Tuesday 22nd February.

Mrs Allnutt, Head Teacher

Alley Access - Back Entrance

We are aware of the rubbish that is being dumped in the back alley to the school from Haig Avenue.

Unfortunately, the alley is not the school's responsibility, but we have reported the issue to Medway Council, as we have on numerous occasions.

Hopefully the matter on this occasion will be resolved soon.

Parent Portal

The Parent Portal has now been launched. Along with the School News app, it is another way of staying in touch with school events, your child's attendance and newsletters.

The Parent Portal is also where you will be able to book your parent's evening appointment after half-term when we make the dates live for booking. No more letters sent home for booking, it can all be done at a touch of your fingers on your phone.

The Parent Portal is set up using the email address you provided us with.

If you have any questions, please call into the office, and we can assist you.

Here is the link for the parent portal.

Snow White

Thank you for your donations to support the pantomime.

We laughed, sang and jumped up and down all the way through it!

School Council

We have been very busy this term. We have helped with ideas for a healthy lunch box.

We have also had to ask our classmates what they would like to wear for non-uniform days. We will be voting on this after half-term.

Road Safety

STOP - LOOK - LISTEN - THINK

All the children have taken part in Medway Council Road Safety sessions this term. They have practiced road crossing skills and talked about road safety. Y1 and Y2 went outside the school to practice crossing the road and Reception and Nursery had a roll-out road with a kerb set up in the hall.

We hope these skills are being put to good use when you are all out and about.

We have also been sent a link for a song which might help!

Class work to share

Head over to the website 'Curriculum and Learning' page.

Each Class has their own page and photo album. We have chosen our favourite learning moments from this term to share with you - we are sure that the children will be able to tell you all about their learning by looking through the pictures with you.

With the half-term break coming up, now is a perfect to time to promote the Young Cooks 2022 competition as an activity to take part in at home!
It would be such a shame for any talented cooks to miss the opportunity to enter this exciting competition.
