Term 5 - 27th May 2022

Newsletter - Term 5 - 27th May  2022

Dear Parent/Carers,

Another busy term has finished, and what a way to end it!

Everyone looked so smart today, dressed for tea with the Queen. We have had a wonderful day celebrating the Platinum Jubilee with a tea party for Nursery, and our big Jubilee Lunch for the rest of the school. Please go to our Curriculum enrichment tab on the website.

The children will all be bringing home a commemorative Jubilee badge which we have bought for each of them to mark this special occasion.

Mrs Powlesland will be putting together some photographs of the day, so please look out on the website in our 'Curriculum and Learning' section, where you will find our enrichment page.

Finally, another big thank you from all of us for your support with your children's learning again this term - the support they get from you with their reading and home learning tasks is invaluable in helping to move your children forward.

Mrs Allnutt

Headteacher

Design a Cover Competition

Thank you to all of those who entered our book cover design competition. We had a lot of bright and colourful Elmer's to look through. Our Chair of Governors chose the winning designs on Wednesday. All the children who entered will be bringing home a certificate today.

Our overall winner was Dominic from Year 1 CONGRATULATIONS! Their design will be used for the front cover of our very special 'Elmer's Jubilee' story - we have scanned the whole book for you to see on our website, as each class has helped to illustrate the pages of the story.

The 4 children selected from each year group were:

Nursery - Bradley   Reception - Maksim   Year 1 - Lola   Year 2 - Theea

Each of these children have chosen an 'Elmer' book prize.

You will find our book on the website at the link here

School Council

This term we have asked our classmates about how to spend our £61 raised from our animal themed non-uniform day.

We have voted to create a 'Jubilee garden' area in our playground. We decided that we needed a space that looked nice.

We met with our school gardener to ask him questions about where the garden area should go, and what plants to buy. We have asked for red, white and blue flowers, and some roses.

Next term, we will be planting! We also have an idea for all of our friends to help with decorating the edges of our garden to make it safe and special - watch out for more news coming soon!

Phonics Screening

This will take place in the first week of term 6 for all children in Year 1 and some children in Year 2. Information for this can be found on the letters' page of the school website.

Dates for your diary!

We have lots of events and activities taking place in the last term for this year, which we are delighted the finally be able to do.

Please keep checking the website under the calendar and the special events tab as all the up-to-date information can be found there.

Don't forget to check your emails regularly as well as that is the standard way we are now sending information home.
